Donegal Celtic 4 Ballinamallard 0

Paul McVeigh showed signs of his old lethal self with a two-goal tally in yesterday's one-sided Championship league win over Ballinamallard at Celtic Park.

Striker McVeigh, battling back from a foot operation at the start of the season, delivered two set piece plays - the second a penalty - to send Celtic on their way to a convincing win.

His first, a superb free-kick in the 31st minute came after visiting keeper Trevor Morrison threatened to dent Celtic's promotion aim with a string of breath-taking saves.

But he could do nothing to stop McVeigh's perfect free-kick nor his 40th minute penalty after Mark McConkey upended Liam Watson in the goalmouth.

Ex-Linfield midfielder Paul McAreavey scored his second in as many games for Celtic - a simple finish after Morrison's excellent save to deny Kevin Duff saw the loose ball fall kindly  to McAreavey just before half-time.
Thomas Lambe scored Celtic's fourth with a close range header from McAreavey's corner in the 54th minute.

Celtic face Ballyclare Comrades in an Intermediate Cup tie on Tuesday Dixon Park, 7.45pm.
